I am happy to announce that Eva from Morocco is our new winner and the theme for the 30th! challenge is Clotheslines.
I think it’s going to be fun:)
This time I let my friend introduce the story of him and his dog. I know Bubi, our dog Bambi plays with her once a week next to the river Danube and she is a really sweet dog who only barks at runners..:)
This is my dog and bestest friend, Bubi (or Bubbles if you prefer). We adopted her last February and she’s been the most amazing companion to me and my family ever since. She loves cuddles and licks your face if you don’t watch out. She also loves being chased by other dogs, but good luck catching her, she is fast as lightning! She has a “sister” Dancey, who adores her as a big sister and follows her around all the time and if they are separated she will whine endlessly.
Unfortunately she was diagnosed with heartworm a few months ago. Heartworm is parasite that lives in cats’ and dogs’ arteries and is fatal if left untreated. The treatment is very long and very stressful, with around 90% chance of survival. The dogs are injected with arsenic, which kills the worms, but their vessels start circuliting in the dogs circulatory system until they are dissolved. However during that time, there is a chance that they can block the animals’ arteries, which can be fatal. So the dogs must stay in the hospital, confined to a cage, only taken out a few times to pee, but must remain very still for 2 weeks, to minimalize the chance of fatality. During this time the owner is not advised to visit as it can upset the dog, causing them to jump up and down with joy, which is not encouraged.
She will have two stints in the hospital, first from August 1-14 and then from September 1-14. As you can imagine, these 2 months will be a very stressful for all of us. Dancey will be staying at my parents, missing her sister. Bubi will be in the hospital for 2×2 weeks and the time she spends at home, she will be confined to the couch, only taken out to pee, and we will be at home, rooting for our little baby and biting our nails.
Bubi will need all of your positive energy and it’d mean a lot to me to know that many people are rooting for her to recover!
PS.: If you live in Europe, make sure to have your dog checked for heartworms and use protection! The earlier they catch it, the easier the treatment.
Thank you all for your consideration,
